This is a very rare condition which is usually caused by trauma.  This case is in a 17 year old child who had a previous eardrum repair many years earlier.  The surgeon and the surgeon removed the
anterior part of the ear canal so he could see the anterior part of the eardrum.  He removed too much bone, which resulted in the prolapse of the mandible's condyle into the ear canal.
